New England Tech is the only college in the country to offer an Advanced Marine Technology degree: 鈥淚 knew this was the place鈥�
For Brendan Donnelly, that major made all the difference. From Martha鈥檚 Vineyard, MA, Brendan researched colleges across the country before visiting 看片狂人鈥檚 campus. 鈥淭he Head of the Marine Department, Professor Ted Chamberlin, led the tour. Once I saw the systems labs with the engines, I knew this was the place I wanted to be. I signed on the dotted line to attend New England Tech the next day.鈥�

Brendan wanted to find a career that would allow him to be on the water and work with his hands.
鈥淭his program provides opportunity for adventure. I know I鈥檒l be prepared to work in the marine industry. We鈥檙e learning plumbing, electrical, diesel engines, the software side, welding, and radar and sonar navigation. It is a complete, well-rounded education. We learn by working on the latest equipment.鈥�
Strong relationships with professors and hands-on learning propel Brendan to success
鈥淲hat I love are the interpersonal relationship with Professor Chamberlin and the hands-on teaching. This program is academically competitive. All the students join the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) — we are trained according to the standard. The 看片狂人 degree helps us move up in the industry faster and expedites increases in pay. I have an edge to become a master technician. I鈥檓 exposed to higher learning opportunities. Within 6 months of working, I鈥檒l be worth more than if I did not have this degree.鈥�

Brendan is impressed with all aspects of the program, especially the alumni. 鈥淚 want to get my bachelor鈥檚 in business at 看片狂人 to open managerial options at marinas. We have a strong Marine Tech alumni community. Career Services has helped arrange companies to recruit here. I鈥檝e networked, which is getting my foot through the door. A fifth of the class are employed in marinas already.鈥�
