Both programs are designed to prepare participants for immediate employment in the automotive industry, with a strong emphasis on practical skills, safety, and professionalism.
Automotive Technician (AMT) Training
Learn to diagnose, maintain, and repair modern vehicles using advanced tools and technology.
Automotive technicians are the backbone of vehicle maintenance and repair. This program covers:
- Engine diagnostics and repair
- Brake systems, suspension, and steering
- Electrical systems and computerized diagnostics
- Safety procedures and customer service
Physical Requirements of Automotive Technician Training (AMT):
- Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods
- Use jacks, hoists, and power tools
- Strong manual dexterity and coordination
- Good vision, hearing, and cognitive skills
Auto Body Technician (ABT) Training
Master the art of restoring and refinishing vehicles after collisions, including welding, sanding, and painting.
Auto body technicians restore vehicles to their pre-accident condition. This program includes:
- Collision repair and frame straightening
- Glue dent repair and scan toolsÌý
- Sanding, priming, and painting
- Cosmetic detailing and refinishing
Physical Requirements of Auto Body Technician (ABT) Training:
- Lift up to 80 lbs and perform repetitive motions
- Work in crouched or kneeling positions
- Use sanders, grinders, and spray-painting tools
- Tolerate fumes, dust, and temperature extremes
- Wear protective gear and follow safety protocols

There is absolutely no cost to participate.
This training is fully funded by the State of Rhode Island through Real Jobs RI and RI DLT.
All materials, instruction, and support services are provided free of charge.Ìý
Program ScheduleÌý
- Start Date: August 2025ÌýÌý
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, with occasional SaturdaysÌýÌý
- Session Length: Up to 5 hours per day, starting at 3:00 or 4:00 PMÌýÌý
- Location: ¿´Æ¬¿ñÈË (specific campus details provided upon acceptance)
- Attendance: Mandatory for all sessionsÌý

- Be unemployed or underemployed (working part-time is acceptable)Ìý
- Be 18 years of age or olderÌý
- Possess a valid Rhode Island driver’s licenseÌý
- Be willing and able to accept a suitable job in the industry upon program completionÌý

Admission to the program is competitive and includes the following steps:Ìý
1.) In-Person Information Session
Learn more about the program and complete a written assessment.Ìý2.) Skills Assessment
Demonstrate your aptitude for hands-on work in a practical setting.Ìý3.) Individual Interview
Meet with program staff and possibly industry leaders for a one-on-one interview.Ìý4.) Mandatory Orientation
If selected, you must attend a pre-class orientation to prepare for success.Ìý
